From Banner Elk: At the stoplight in Banner Elk, take a left. Go 1/4 mile and bear right onto 184 to Beech Mtn. Come up to the top of the mountain (about 3 miles) and go through the town of Beech, past our town hall and Fred’s General Store. When you start down the other side, the Top of the Beech is the first inn on your right, and the Beech Alpen Inn is the 3rd inn on the right.

From Atlanta: Take 85 to Spartanburg. Get off on 221N. Go all the way to Linville (not the same as Linville Falls). At the stoplight in Linville, take a left onto 105N. Go 5 miles – take a left on 184 to Banner Elk. Go 7 miles to the stoplight in Banner Elk and take a left. See above directions from Banner Elk. It is about a 5-hour trip.

From Raleigh: Take 40 W to Winston-Salem. In Winston-Salem, take 421 to N.Wilkesboro and on to Boone. At the fifth stoplight in Boone, take a left onto 105S. Go about 12 miles to 184. Take a right onto 184 to Banner Elk. See directions from Banner Elk above. It is about a 4-hour trip.

From Charlotte: There are 2 ways you can come. (1) Take I-77N to 421. Go North on 421 to N. Wilkesboro and on to Boone. At the fifth stoplight take a left onto 105S. Go about 12 miles to 184. Take a right onto 184 to Banner Elk. See above. Or, (2) take 16 to 321N in Hickory and on to Boone. At the main stoplight in Boone, take a left onto 105S. Go about 12 miles to 184. Take a right onto 184 to Banner Elk. See above bold directions. Either way it is about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour trip.

From Asheville: Take I-40 E to Marion. In Marion get on 221 N. Go all the way to Linville (not the same as Linville Falls). At the stoplight in Linville, take a left onto 105N. From the “North”: Take 81 S to I-181 S. In Johnson City pick up US 321 to Elizabethton, TN. In Elizabethton, follow 19E across the NC line into Elk Park. In Elk Park, turn left onto 194 to Banner Elk. Go 6 and a half miles and turn left onto 184 to Beech Mtn. Come 3 miles up to the top of the mountain and go through the town of Beech, past our town hall and Fred’s General Store. From Knoxville/”West”: Take I-81 N to I-181 S. In Johnson City, TN pick up US 321 to Elizabethton, TN. From Elizabethton take US 19E across the NC state line into Elk Park. Do not follow US 321 into Boone — it will add almost 2 hours to the trip! In Elk Park, turn left onto NC 194 to Banner Elk. Go 6 and a half miles and turn left onto 184 to Beech Mtn. Come 3 miles up to the top of the mountain and go through the town of Beech, past our town hall and Fred’s General Store. When you start down the other side, the Top of the Beech is the first inn on your right, and the Beech Alpen Inn is the 3rd inn on the right .

From E. Coast of Florida: Take I-95N to S.C. In S.C., pick up I-26W to Columbia. In Columbia, take I-77 to Charlotte. Take south bypass I-485 to I-85 south to Gastonia. Pick up 321 north to Hickory. ** Take I-40 south to Morganton, exit at #105 and pick up 181 to Linville. Take Hwy 105 to Tynecastle, turn left at 184 to Banner Elk. (About 12 hours from Miami)

**Alternate route: Stay on 321 to Boone. Take Hwy 105 south to Tynecastle, turn right on 184 to Banner Elk. (More traffic, takes longer)

From W. Coast of Florida: Take I-75N to Atlanta. See directions from Atlanta.
